Album Review: "This Is My Masterpiece - EP" by Bleed Electric

BleedElectricEP

By Jordan Meehan

I recently had the opportunity to review the new EP from Bleed Electric, entitled This Is My Masterpiece. Prior to this, I had never heard of Bleed Electric, so I was excited to see what they would bring to the table, and with “masterpiece” in the title, the bar was raised a little high. As I listened to the 6-track EP, I realized that I had been missing out on some great music from this group! Aren’t pleasant surprises well…oh so pleasant? Here are my thoughts on the new EP:

The EP opens up with A New Reason, a driving, pounding track that effortlessly blends hip-hop with top-notch electronica that makes you just want to bop along. I’m not a big hip-hop fan, but this track makes even me want to learn the lyrics and spit them out while jiving to the beat.

The second track, Accidental Genius, just so much going on in this track its hard to keep up! Somehow, though, it all seems to fit together quite organically into a single sonically appealing track. With elements of disco, rap, hip-hop and dub you might be skeptical of how well this track turns out. Alas, it proves to be an irresistible track that melds all of these elements together effectively.

Album Review - Gossamer by Passion Pit

Passion-Pit-Gossamer-e1337095841298

By Javi Lopez

Hello, Bonjour, hola electro pop lovers! Have you all been looking for new music to listen to? You can stop looking now, Passion Pit has released their long-awaited sophomore album Gossamer and let me tell you - it is beautiful.

For those who are wondering: Passion Pit are an American band from Cambridge, Massachusetts. Gossamer is the type of album that will make you sing along wether you want or not. The album takes you deep into the lyrics, synth and perfect (oh-oh-oh) background vocals (as in Take a Walk).

Michael Angelakos, the mind behing Passion Pit, has spent the past three years struggling and fighting a battle against bipolar dissorder. A problem that has sent him to the hospital and left many scars in his life. His beloved wife, whom has 'saved his life' many times, the problems and emotions that he has overcome are all present in Gossamer. One of the tracks that caught my attention the most was Cry Like a Ghost - it's haunting and brings memories back. It will set you up on a cave of weird and happy emotions. Yes, you are in for a treat.

Take a listen to 'Take a Walk' below and grab a copy.

Free Download - Fantasea by Azealia Banks

Azealia-Banks-Fantasea-Mixtape-Artwork

By Javi Lopez

STOP IT. YES, STOP. ok, Continue - The 21 years old New Yorker has brought a pussy-pop worthy mix tape 'Fantasea'. This RAP-ist has litterally done my ears. And for good. Is not just because it's aggressive rap as I like it, but because it has that hard bass, pop dipped (the most important part), club worthy and pole dancing material. Yes, That kinky.

The mixtape has a good, fierce start with 'Out of Space' - Strong Miss Bank$'s verses make it one of the best songs in it, unlike Neptune, making it a weak point on the album. You can even somehow think of Nicki Minaj when you listen to it. It is bad. I'm sorry.

I'm dancing my ass off to "Esta Noche" as I type this, my favourite track by far. You just have to listen to it to fall in love and feel all sleazy. Fantasea, Aquababe and Ima read leave you with a feeling that there should be more of them, and you just wait for it to continue and nothing happens. TEASE.

IN SUMMARY: Azealia Banks has brought something different, something you can listen to and not feel ashamed to share it. 'Fantasea' is a 8/10 mixtape and you can download it for free here and listen to 'Esta Noche' perfection below.

Shall we? shall we.....
