Don't You Forget About Me: Alex Parks

Alexparks

She is the pint-sized Cornwall girl who just happens to be so talented that she won the second season of BBC's Fame Academy here in the UK.  Her voice is just so magical and real that it's hard for anybody not to stop and say "Wow - girl has a set of lungs on her".  Her cover of Tears For Fears 'Mad World' is WAY better than the version that released by Gary Jules' from the Donnie Darko soundtrack and her two albums 'Introduction' and 'Honesty' are poignant efforts which delight our ears everytime we are feeling a bit mellow and chill.

Alex Parks has always been a little under-appreciated in the world of pop but it is apparent that when you see her live that she still has a sizable and dedicated fan base who appreciates her gripping and powerful voice.  Her song 'Cry' is one our favourite songs of all time so having said that, if you haven't checked out the wonderful vocal stylings of Alex Parks, then do so in our little video vault below or her website.  And if you have forgotten about her already like yesterday's news, isn't it time you take another listen today?  Maybe that's what it takes eh?

Aww i love little alex, it's a shame she never really got the appreciation she deserved. I really love her clothes style too, she carries it so well.

still, the only good thing about a small dedicated fan base, is small venues - always a good thing to enjoy

Hey Danielle - I couldn't agree with you more. I hope lil Alex doesn't stop making fab tunes. I think she's the cutest thing with the biggest voice and way underappreciated. We'll always give her love over at the EQ - whatever she does.

I've never really taken much notice of Alex Parks before and i've clearly missed out! x

thanks for the great article. i think alex is definately under appreciated as an artist, has an amazing voice, and happens to be cute too lol. i really hope she continues with her singing

My reply:

Exactly.... Wow - that girl has a set of lungs on her!!!!

If you take a listen to both of Alex's album's "Introduction" & "Honesty" you hear some of Alex's range, how she can take a very well know hit such as "Beautiful" and not cover it, but make it her own, how she can take "Yellow" and make it like you've never heard it before...

I've always believed we've only seen/heard the tip of the musical iceberg that is Alex Parks...

On "Honesty" check out "Lost without a name", "Black & White" and Alex going Latin with "Tail & all"...

She hasn't given up on her music and is laying the foundations of a new musical project, in between living & travelling...

Her "sizable and dedicated fan base" is still out there, check out those video's, then check out her music on iTunes or Amazon... Alex Parks... once heard, never forgotten...
