Listen To – “The Blow” by YADi

Yadi

By Mandy Rogers

OK I’m going to say it! While the mainstream contrived pop mush of Will.I.am and Britney does absolute diddly squat for me, I am beyond thrilled to see that one of my most favourite EQ Discovery artists YADi has put up another track online.

In a live recording session filmed at the Fish Factory Studios, YADi tore into her mystical taster track of yore “Sahara Heart” and went on to additionally unveil a track that is new to me “The Blow”.

Coming at us somewhat indie, YADi’s multicultural blend of pop is right on the money for me. Suffice to say, I can’t help but remain in adoration of Hannah YADi’s svelte emotionally outpoured vocals.

The Blow” is a co-write between YADi and American record producer Ariel Rechtshaid who has also been behind hits for Haim, Charli XCX, and Sky Ferreira.

It’s been quite a journey over the last couple of years to this point for YADi, but I sincerely hope that 2013 will bring much more of her stylish pop to the fore.  I so WANT it and I know that I'm not standing alone on this.

EQ Discovery: Molly Monroe

Molly Monroe

By Mandy Rogers

Many of today’s teen pop artists bleep up on our radars via the slew of reality TV outlets, but there are some names that rear up again and again through their conscientious hard work in promotion and gigging it from the get go, that go on to ensure that they become worthy of note.

One such name that I’ve picked up on is that of Warwickshire’s slip of lass Molly Monroe, who over the past year has been popping up regularly at jaunts all over the West Midlands and further afield, alongside some of the UK’s teen tipped new acts such as The Mend and The Loveable Rogues as seen on Britain’s Got Talent.

Molly may well be a miss teen thing - that is until she sings, sings, sings.  The youngster confidently reigns in a sleek RnB pop performance that cuts in a mere edge of youthfulness whilst snapping in a maturity that will readily appeal to the post teen market and urban pop hungry aficionados alike.

Take a listen on Molly’s just released debut track “Nu Love” that packs some serious pixie pop soul style and dance nation energy.

Monarchy Set To Release A Collaboration With International Muse Dita von Teese

Monarchy Dita Von Teese

Oh WOWEE if the steam rising off this will allow, would you LOOK at this press shot! isn’t it rather scandalously sex-ay, in an “Eyes Wide Shut” kind of way!  and its all because……  Electro pop titans Monarchy will be opening up the New Year with an exciting venture.

The super hot electro maestros have scored themselves a super-fan in international muse Dita von Teese, friendship has blossomed betwixt all parties and they have conjured up a tune for the sensual siren called “Disintegration” that will make it’s way to digital outlets mid January 2013.

In prelude to release of the track; Monarchy reveal that “the song is about losing the self in a moment, in a love affair, in a partner, drawing from a metaphor of “le Petit mort” that post sex moment where the mind goes blank, as a symbol of the larger loss of self in a relationship”.  Hmmmm quite the thought there! Anyway, we’re confident that it’ll be the stuff that electro dreams are made of with Monarchy at the steer of it.

Also the video is to see Dita portray the classic 1950’s housewife escaping the monotony of her marriage through sexual fantasy…. Allo, allo lightbulb!  haven’t synth slayers Parralox just had a similar story idea for their freshly released video to “Sharper Than A Knife”!  oh well, it’s a retro fantastic idea I’m sure both electro duo’s have seen that it’s turned out with both their usual stunning panache.

We await with steamy baited breath for further Monarchy and Dita updates…….
