Those visually stunning troubadours from Empire Of The Sun return with their fourth single released on Virgin called "Without You". And just as you would come to expect - the music video is a glorious piece of film complete with thrones, bulls, red potions and an intergalactic jungle gym. All the things that are not supposed to go together in a music video, but somehow do...
More importantly, this is probably my favorite single from Empire Of The Sun - not so left-field, but more of a softer electronica vibe to it - like Tears For Fears on mushrooms. Enjoy the video!
Already becoming local celebrities on the West Coast, The Cataracs, who are one of Universal's latest signings, are onto something good with their latest single "Club Love". Quite literally, they are singing about finding love in the club (nothing new there) but the electro-pop beat certainly does have a swagger to it that is fresh, edgy and totally relevant.
I'm really digging this track and can't wait to start spinning it at EQ Club nights. The best lyric from the song?... "I'm gonna do the Facebook and poke ya..." - Risque.
I am LOVING this song right now by new duo Kiss In Cities.
This little bit of electro-pop heaven is called "U R My Girl" and if you think the two hotties above look familiar, well you've seen them in another band I've written about called We Are (Performance).
So this whole throwback to the sound of 1987 Madonna/Jellybean sounds uber fresh right now and if Kiss In Cities are going to continue to make songs in this vein, then they might be a band that I could quite easily start obsessing over.
I asked Kiss In Cities to provide some commentary about the track and this is what they had to say:
"The track is about girls. Being strong and sticking up for each other against the odds. It's about friendship and sisterhood; Fun and deviance. Inspiration = friends, sisters, strong female figures, pink flamingos and freedom. Dance dance dance! Look out for each other, embrace the absurd and ALWAYS maintain a positive vibe!
The video was inspired by the film Warriors, Tank Girl and a Native American aesthetic. We shot it above Dry Bar, which was opened by Factory Records. Amongst lots of dead pigeons, broken bottles and some 1980s graffiti done by Madonna, we danced around and had some fun. The best part was filling the balloons with glitter and then hitting them with our weapons.

Check them out on MySpace and enjoy the video in it's tribal Sunscreem/Jane Child glory to "U R My Girl" right now!
Probably my favorite song from David Guetta's new album - "One Love" featuring Estelle is finally getting it's proper single release next week. It's been playing non-stop on the music video channels over here in the UK for about a week now and its blend of electro, soul and silky smooth lyricism by Estelle makes for one hot track that is sure to ignite your favourite nightclub pretty soon.
Whether you love him or hate him, you can't deny that David Guetta sure knows how to put a good beat together doesn't he?...enjoy the video!
Wow. I just got around to watching that too hot for MTV music video to "Sad Eyes" by Enrique Iglesias and I must say - I lost my breath for about two seconds...sorry, tangent - back to regular music blogging now...
EQ Live will be taking a break in December, but will be returning to London's Bar Music Hall in January and we'll be launching in New York City in February - more details to come...Time Out Recommended.
