All About EQ
EQ was created in 2005 originally as Electroqueer.com - a music blog featuring new and exciting pop and electronic music written by American born, London living music enthusiast Raj Rudolph. Not satisfied with just the radio-friendly and Top 40 chart music that gets playlisted and promoted by the UK and US music industry, EQ's mission of discovering relevant and inspiring new pop talent quickly caught on and since then, EQ has emerged as a noted and respected online music tastemaker.
EQ has captured a devoted worldwide audience with well over a quarter of a million unique visitors in 2010 and has featured hundreds of music interviews with some of pop's finest including Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert, Hurts, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Scissor Sisters, Imogen Heap, Darren Hayes, Dangerous Muse, Róisín Muphy, Sam Sparro, Frankmusik, Martin Solveig, BT and Robyn.
In June of 2008, together with DJ Adamix, EQ Live was let loose on London's live music scene and was one of the first music blogs that moved from blog page to stage. Based in London's fashionable Shoreditch area, EQ Live has become a key fixture in the calendar for pop music fans and music industry talent-spotters alike who are hungry to see new and exciting talent debut on the stage.
EQ Live has showcased some of the most exciting and on-the-cusp independent pop and electronica artists, some of which have eventually become signed including; The Good Natured (UK - EMI/Parlophone), Christian Burns (UK - Armada Music), Graffiti6 (UK - Capitol), Bright Light Bright Light (UK - Popjustice Hi-Fi), Ro Danishei (USA - BMG), Nicolo Festa (UK X-Factor), Luciana (UK), Simon Curtis (USA), Andrea Lewis (Canada), Bim (UK), Parralox (Australia), Johnny Lazer (UK) and Antigone (Australia).
Expanding upon their experience in the live area, EQ was the first pop music blog to launch their own national American club tour. The EQ Music Tour featuring Adam Tyler kicked off in August 2011 and made it's way across the nation hitting 13 major markets including New York City, Chicago, Florida, Texas and California. More EQ Music Tours are currently being planned for up-and-coming pop and electronic artists who seek to break through to the American club circuit.
Major label or independent, big budget or small, UK to worldwide - all pop and electronic music is up for discussion at EQ. At it's heart, EQ is first and foremost a fun place to discover new music, download free mp3s, watch music videos and discover new pop and electronic music; written with a fun and constructive tone, which leaves the blog bitching behind.
EQ was nominated for "Best Blog" in the 2009 & 2010 Record Of The Day Awards for music journalism and was a finalist for "Best Music Blog" in the 2010 BT Digital Music Awards. EQ is also regularly listed in the Wikio Top 100 Music Blogs category every month and was chosen as a respected music blog in the BBC Sound Of 2011 yearly feature.
Even Lady Gaga is a fan and has proclaimed in one of her first online interviews - "I TOO am an Electroqueer!" name!

Jordan Meehan Music Blogger jordan@electroqueer.com Jordan is a full time student and a full time music and pop culture addict. Refusing rehab for his addictions to music and pop culture, Jordan spends his time immersed in cyberspace and the live music scenes of Washington, DC and New York. While his taste in music ranges from jazz and big band to heavy metal and Britpop, pop and dance music remain at the top of his list. He’s currently kept busy maintaining his big hair and constantly worried that Twitter will completely envelop his life. |
